Frisco Rotary Spotlights Liberty Seniors

The Frisco Rotary Club that meets at noon on Thursday at Dave and Buster’s Restaurant recently honored two FISD students from Liberty High School for their academic excellence and community involvement.
Honored were Konnor Rodriguez, son of Dina Rodriguez, and Ashley Nguyen, daughter of Dennis and Hong Nguyen.
These two Liberty students are both members of the National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society. Both are also involved in the Independent Study and Mentorship program.
Rodriguez is team captain for the Mock Trial Team and is a member of the Mayor’s Debate team. He is also a National Hispanic Scholar and an AP Scholar with Honors.  Through his participation in Mock Trial and the FISD government education program, he holds 2nd place in the nation through the Virtual Supreme Court and has been named an Outstanding Advocate.
Rodriguez is also a member of the Mayor’s Youth Council and is a manager at a Sonic Drive-In. He plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and major in both psychology and government.
Nguyen is team captain of the LHS Varsity Swim Team, a three-time record holder and an Academic All-American. She has been an All-State Swimmer four times and was named Most Valuable Player for swim team and psychology student of the year.
Her interest in heart health is seen in her active interest in swim and her volunteerism for heart health as the founder of the Heart-for-a-Heart campaign, which aims to raise $15,000 for the HeartGift Foundation. She has been an instructor and lifeguard at Lifetime Fitness. She is also a volunteer with Special Olympics. She is also already a published author in the World Journal of Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery.
Nguyen plans to major in biology or biochemistry. She has been accepted into the University of Texas at Austin but is waiting to hear from Harvard and Washington University in St. Louis.

Computer Programming Under the Mentorship of Andy Tate at

Austin Endo is a senior in ISM this year studying computer programming under the mentorship of programmer Andy Tate. While computer programming is Austin's passion, it has also been a lifelong passion of his mentor, who has been developing various solutions for the last 35 years in many different areas including banking, retail, insurance and now training.
