The Frisco Rotary Club that meets at noon on Thursday at Dave and Buster’s Restaurant recently honored two FISD students from Liberty High School for their academic excellence and community involvement.
Honored were Konnor Rodriguez, son of Dina Rodriguez, and Ashley Nguyen, daughter of Dennis and Hong Nguyen.
These two Liberty students are both members of the National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society. Both are also involved in the Independent Study and Mentorship program.
Rodriguez is team captain for the Mock Trial Team and is a member of the Mayor’s Debate team. Nguyen is team captain of the LHS Varsity Swim Team, a three-time record holder and an Academic All-American. She has been an All-State Swimmer four times and was named Most Valuable Player for swim team and psychology student of the year.
Her interest in heart health is seen in her active interest in swim and her volunteerism for heart health as the founder of the Heart-for-a-Heart campaign, which aims to raise $15,000 for the HeartGift Foundation. She has been an instructor and lifeguard at Lifetime Fitness. She is also a volunteer with Special Olympics.
