Liberty ISM Senior Featured in KERA Series on Immigrant Children

Liberty High School senior Irum Ali was highlighted recently on KERA radio.  Irum is currently studying Public Affairs with a focus on International Education as part of her Independent Study and Mentorship journey.

One in three Texas kids is either an immigrant or the child of immigrants. KERA’s series Generation One explored the challenges these children face and the ways North Texas schools are trying to weave them into the American tapestry.

The radio piece and video piece highlight Irum’s life at home and school and explore her decision to wear a hijab, a traditional Muslim headscarf.
