PICASSO AND PROMOTIONS - Student snapshot: Victoria Meng

Pablo Picasso is widely regarded as one of the greatest painters of all time. However, a fact that the average art lover may not know, is that Picasso was also an accomplished sculptor.

During a research interview, ISM student, Victoria Meng, got a unique opportunity to interact with Picasso’s perspective challenging "Head of Jacqueline" at the Nasher Sculpture Center.

In the process of studying marketing and advertising during her term in ISM, Victoria has been visiting with non-profit organizations to hear the unique perspectives of professionals involved in the art world. Much like how sculptures are not typically associated with Picasso, Andrea Devaldenebro, the marketing manager at the Nasher, shared her experiences in a unique array of tasks that aren't typically associated with marketing.

Throughout the interview, Victoria gained unique insight into the extent of creativity and flexibility needed in an environment where funding is often limited. However, most memorably she learned about a distinct benefit of non-profit marketing: the rewarding experience of promoting a valuable cause-- the chance to sell inspiration.
